Week of May 25-29, 2020
Music Class
During the month of May, the Catholic Church recognizes the Blessed Virgin Mary as the mother of Jesus. The way that we do this is with various hymns and traditions. These hymns (or songs), are sometimes referred to as Marian Hymns, as they allow us to show our love to Mary using our voices. There is also the May Crowning. This is when we place a crown of flowers on a statue of the Blessed Mother to show respect and love for her. Since we are not in our school and church buildings at this time, our traditional May Processions have become virtual. Remember, we can pray wherever we are. WE are the church, the people of God.
For this week, I am going to ask you to watch the videos found below. Each video is a different hymn dedicated to Mary. Next to each video you will find the words to the hymns. Please listen and read the words. Once you have watched each video, please write a paragraph of 4 or more sentences telling which hymn was your favorite. Please explain your answer. You may choose to discuss the words used within the hymn. You can talk about the instruments used in the song. You may also talk about the vocals within the song. Please use this time as a way to remember Mary as the Mother of Jesus.

Art Class
May is the month where we remember Mary as the Mother of Jesus. Mary is always telling us to remember to pray the rosary. For today's project, we are going to draw a set of rosary beads. For this project, you will need paper, pencils, markers, and crayons or color pencils. Please watch the whole video before you begin drawing. After you watch the video, please begin your drawing. As always, the leader is drawing using a marker. I am going to ask you to draw your rosary beads using a pencil. When you are finished your drawing, you can go back and outline using a marker. Please follow the directions in the video and pause as you need. Underneath the video you will find a guide for how to pray the rosary.
