Music Class
Over the many years of music history, there have been many famous composers. A composer is a person who writes music. One of my favorite pieces of music comes from a composer named Sergei Prokofiev. Many of you might not be familiar with the name Sergei Prokofiev or any of his works, but beginning today we will focus on him and one of his pieces. Please click HERE for the classics for kids website. Once you arrive at the site, please click on the play button to hear a short biography (story) of Sergei Prokofiev's life. When you are finished listening to the story, please feel free to take the short quiz at the bottom of the page. Please do not click any of the other links on the page. Please answer the following questions (These questions are available as a downloadable worksheet. Please see the file at the bottom of this page if you wish to download. If not, please answer the questions on paper):
The biography of Sergei Prokofiev and questions 1, 2 and 4 were found on the website www.classicsforkids.com
After you finish answering the questions, we are going to think about the next thing we will learn about. I mentioned that Sergei Prokofiev wrote one of my favorite pieces of music. Peter and the Wolf was a story Sergei Prokofiev wrote for children. He also wrote the music to go along with the story. Let's brainstorm! Without looking anywhere for the answer, what characters do you think would appear in a story that is titled, Peter and the Wolf? Are there people? Are there animals? Who (people or animals) do you think take part in this story? There are no right or wrong answers for this. Please write your ideas down and we will continue our work with Sergei Prokofiev and Peter and the Wolf next time. If you'd like (you don't have to), feel free to draw a few of the characters that you think would appear in the story.

Online Learning is a new experience for many of us. Students, Teachers, and Parents and Guardians are all learning new things every day! Since this is a new style of learning for everyone involved, it is important that the students understand the importance of internet safety. Please refer to this basic list for internet safety by clicking HERE. After students read these guidelines ( or have the guidelines read to them), students should create a poster for internet safety. Students may use any type of paper that is available to them. Students should either draw themselves following the online safety guidelines or they can draw a picture that restates the rules. Please have fun with this project and really use this as an opportunity to think about safety while online.
